On Monday, CMS launched a website for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to serve as a warehouse of new care models for Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program, Government Health ITreports.

Innovation Center Details

The new Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation was mandated by the federal health reform law. The center aims to test different care delivery models in real-world settings with the goal of improving patient care and cutting costs within government-administered health care programs, according to CMS officials.

The website will include a collection of criteria that care models will need to meet. To develop innovative care models, CMS will look to:

  • Clinicians;
  • Consumers;
  • Hospitals;
  • Insurers; and
  • Patients (Mosquera, Government Health IT, 3/22).
