I recently enjoyed the opportunity to connect with non-profit aging services providers from across Pennsylvania at the LeadingAge PA Annual Conference & Exposition in Hershey, PA. As a licensed nursing home administrator for over ten years, I am all too familiar with the challenges faced by those whose mission is to provide care and services to seniors.
It is harsh reality that the aging services environment is increasingly challenged by reimbursement and regulatory concerns; and having to do more with less is a way of life for providers. After a decade spent facing those issues while working in a CCRC, I now spend my professional life supporting the efforts of long term care providers. In this age of electronic everything, the conference was a reminder of the benefits of face to face interaction. Sharing thoughts and ideas personally with colleagues often seems to generate a special energy that just can’t be replicated over the web or via email. I found the opportunity to connect in person with both providers and others who support their mission in various ways to be invaluable.
